Refined carbs get quickly absorbed into the bloodstream, thereby rapidly increases blood sugar levels. This contributes to acne development by making skin cells grow quickly and by boosting sebum production. [2]
Foods rich in refined carbohydrates include,
- White bread, white sugar, crackers, cereal, desserts made with white flour
- White rice and rice noodles
- Pasta made with white flour
