7 Shaving Mistakes you should avoid doing immediately!
Going on a date with all those pretty dresses or short skirts make us worried about the unwanted hair on various parts of the body. How pissing?
Although! We had a fantastic remedy to get rid of all such unwanted hair with just a simple razor. You just need to apply some shaving cream and then run the razor up your legs or hands.
Is it that easy? Well, it’s complicated too! If you’re not doing the job right.
For instance, when you’re in a hurry, you just throw up your hand against the sink in your loo and start applying soap instead of shaving cream. Consequently, you end up giving yourself razor burns, cuts, ingrown hairs and probably you’ll miss some areas too.
Therefore, you must shave any part of your body with the utmost care because it’s totally your responsibility to keep your skin healthy. Here’s the list of mistakes you need to avoid doing immediately in order to prevent any further damage to your skin.
1. Using Men’s Razors
Good razors are always expensive and spending on the blades with every use is relatively expensive. That makes most of the women to use men’s razors. In some cases, there are women who couldn’t differentiate between men’s and women’s razors thinking both are same. That being said, men and women have different kinds of hairs. They vary with size and thickness. Therefore, the razors are designed for both men and women considering their hair structure. So, using a men’s razor is obviously a no-no.
2. Using a Soap
Perhaps in a hurry or because of no awareness, some women habituate to lather skin using a bar of soap and then start the razor job. But that’s totally a wrong idea. If you want your skin to remain as smooth and soft it was before razoring, you must use an appropriate shaving gel. You will get the best results with a shaving gel whereas, with soap, you sometimes end up having a razor burn. So, a big no-no to soap while you razor.
In case, if you have no access to shaving gels, then use coconut oil or olive oil but don’t use soap or don’t razor without anything.
3. Not changing the Cartridges
You pretty much need not change the cartridge after every use of the blade. In particular, there’s really no time period or date for changing the cartridges. It totally depends on your hair growth and usage of the blade. If you’re using Gilette Venus Razor, then the best indicator is the blue line you see on the razor. If it starts fading then that’s an indication to change the cartridge and you shouldn’t be stingy with changing the cartridge if the line starts to fade.
4. Avoiding the first step
The basic first step when you shave has to be prepping your skin by cleaning and keeping the skin smooth. For this, you need to soak your body under the shower for about 2 or 3 minutes before you actually start shaving and then clean the skin with a body wash or soap to soften the hair, open up the pores and ease you through the entire process.
5. Missing Exfoliation!
Exfoliation is one of the steps that you need to do as a pre-shaving routine. You must exfoliate your skin each time you start to shave your skin because exfoliation removes all dead skin cells and thereby helps the razor to glide on smoothly over your skin. So, if you want a smoother shave, don’t miss out exfoliation.
6. Neglecting post-shaving routine
It’s a bad idea to not protect your skin right after shaving. Most of us have a habit of just skipping the post-shaving routine and walking out of the door. But here’s what you need to be doing – wash off your legs and then apply lotion or any kinds of body butter or suitable oils onto your skin. Doing so, your skin will remain smooth and moisturized and keeps all irritations away.
7. Pressing too hard
If you’re on the misconception that pressing the razor hard over your skin can actually remove extra hair then you’re probably on the wrong side. Pressing razor too hard on your skin can cause severe razor burns, irritation, bumps and things like that. If you ever feel like you need to press hard to remove the hair then you must first change the cartridge.
Up to the very end!
By now you must be well-versed and cautious about the prevention steps you need to take while shaving your body. Did we miss any other shaving mistake? If so, please let us know by leaving a comment below.
